Phononic’s Medical Grade Refrigerators

Phononic’s Medical Grade Refrigerators

Evolve was the brand name of Phononic’s original solid state medical grade refrigerator. The Evolve brand was retired in 2018, but the product line is alive and well.

History of Evolve

In 2014, Phononic launched the Evolve solid state medical grade refrigeration line. The launch marked Phononic's cold storage product debut and the first ever solid state refrigerator designed to cool life-saving medical and scientific products. Phononic replaced the compressor with solid state technology and non-hazardous, non-toxic refrigerants to give medical facilities smarter, more sustainable and more precise refrigeration.

In 2017, the Evolve 5.5 cu. ft. became the first solid state refrigerator to earn ENERGY STAR certification, and also received the ENERGY STAR Emerging Technology Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

In 2018, Phononic announced an expanded partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific, making the company the exclusive supplier for its life sciences and healthcare solid state refrigeration and freezer products. As a result, the Evolve brand was retired and Phononic solid state refrigerators became part of Thermo Fisher Scientific's TSX and TSG Series of Small Capacity Refrigerators.

Phononic’s Medical Grade Refrigerators

Today, Phononic’s medical cooling technology is just as innovative and disruptive as it was when Evolve launched in 2014. Many healthcare facilities are still using antiquated compressor-based refrigerators. Phononic’s solid state medical refrigerators are available in two sizes: the 1.8 cu. ft. Countertop and 5.5 cu. ft. Undercounter. Both are quiet and small enough to be used directly in patient rooms, at nursing stations, or on the laboratory workbench.

Phononic’s solid state medical grade refrigerators use constant monitoring and continuous adjustment to deliver uniform, stable temperatures for safe storage that exceeds the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for vaccines and breast milk.

Without bulky compressors, Phononic refrigerators offer up to 40% more storage, do not use toxic or flammable refrigerants, operate much quieter and offer a much more sustainable refrigeration solution.
