TECs for Box TOSA
Perfect for TOSAs that support 100G LR4, 100G DR1, and 400G DR4/FR4/ZR products as well as 25G and 50G for mobile applications. Typically 4 to 6mm on a side and optimized to efficiently handle up to 1 W heat loads.
Phononic supports the cooling of box TOSA (transmit optical subassembly) laser packages with low-power consumption, high-performance TECs. This series is perfect for 100G and higher applications, QSFP transceiver packages, and the long-reach requirements (LR4/10km and beyond) that are in demand from the growth of optical components used in data centers.
TECs for TO CAN
Our smallest TECs are perfect for TO Can-based laser and detectors from 10G to 25G to 50G and beyond, including PON, 5G mobile and FTTx. Typically less than 3 mm per side and optimized for up to 600 mW of heat.
Phononic delivers low-power consumption, high-performance TECs to efficiently cool TO can lasers, all configured for your specific application. This series is ideal for cost-effective lasers from 10G to 50G and beyond, including PON (passive optical networks), wireless network apps, and FTTx applications. This series, including our pico-TEC platform, can be used for cooling common package sizes such as TO56 (5.6mm diameter) and can support even smaller packages such as TO32 or TO40.

And while there was a time when lasers in transceivers would work within acceptable standards for short distances, that time is quickly passing. There is a clear need for an extended range, which requires higher power and thereby generates heat and more data per clock event (in which compressed data requires very accurate wavelength control in both DWDM and coherent modulation), which is highly affected by heat. This is where inexpensive, efficient thermoelectric coolers, or TECs, come into play.
