Dr. Atti is an experienced energy technology investor, entrepreneur, and executive who has demonstrated expertise and leadership in venture financing, business development, start-up growth and operations, and negotiating joint venture relationships.
As founder and CEO at Phononic, he’s led the development and growth of the company as the leading innovator of solid state cooling and heating management solutions through accretive venture capital and institutional investor support. As a former Director at MHI Energy Partners, a seed- and early-stage energy private equity fund, Dr. Atti managed deal flow networks, conducted due diligence, structured venture financing transactions and provided direct portfolio company leadership.
Dr. Atti earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Loker Hydrocarbon Research Institute at the University of Southern California. Dr. Atti also holds an MBA from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Ithaca College.
Tom Werthan is a seasoned finance executive experienced in leading financial operations at public and privately-held technology companies in the semiconductor industry. Mr. Werthan comes to Phononic from Solid State Equipment, a leading semiconductor capital equipment company; where as CFO he was a key participant in the successful sale of the company to Veeco Instruments (NASDAQ: VECO) in 2014.
Previously, Mr. Werthan held the CFO position at Sunlogics and Emcore, where he was a key participant in the company’s Initial Public Offering in 1997. Mr. Werthan has also held finance and accounting leadership positions at Audio Visual Labs, and has public accounting experience at Ernst & Young.
Mr. Werthan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and a member of the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees, Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Monmouth County. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Boston University.
Ron Tarter is Chief Operations Officer where he leads product manufacturing, integration, and global supply chain and distribution initiatives. Mr. Tarter is a seasoned Supply Chain Executive, and has worked in various senior management capacities, collaborating with a number of Fortune 500 companies. His experience includes both domestic and international assignments. He has been part of numerous product development and manufacturing ramps, and is a recognized expert in what it takes to scale an organization and its corresponding supply chain.
In one of his most recent roles as Senior Vice President/General Manager at Flex, Mr. Tarter managed a global footprint of over $5B in revenue, with operations in Europe, Asia, and North America. His 20-year tenure allowed him to partner with various companies, to engineer and implement comprehensive supply chains on behalf of their markets and customers.
Prior to Flex, Mr. Tarter was employed by Apple for almost 15 years where he worked in various manufacturing engineering and production management roles. He spent nine of his Apple years in the Macintosh Division and developed his early supply chain skills in the original Macintosh factory.
Mr. Tarter attended San Diego State University and San Jose State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Industrial Technology with a Minor in Business Management.
Mick Wilcox is Chief Marketing Officer at Phononic, with responsibility for marketing programs, brand management, and corporate sponsorships. Prior to joining Phononic, he worked in strategic business development and marketing at several companies. Notable is his previous four years as Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Acuity Brands, a Fortune 500 Company, where he utilized an analytical approach to marketing to implement successful strategies to capture target consumers.
Previously, Mr. Wilcox held the VP Marketing position at high tech start-ups Bridgelux, acquired by CEC, and Nuventix, acquired by Aavid. Mr. Wilcox’s focus and drive is centered on expanding the company’s reach utilizing his experience in start-ups.
Mr. Wilcox served seven years as a captain in the United States Air Force, stationed in Kapaun, Germany and Colorado Springs, CO. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Wyoming and an MBA from Regis University in Finance and Accounting.
Mr. Bruno has more than 20 years of sales, marketing and business development experience in the semiconductor industry.
Prior to joining Phononic, he served as Senior Director of Emerging Technologies for NXP Semiconductors, where he was responsible for delivering high-value customer engagements. Mr. Bruno was instrumental in the definition of NXP’s strategy and product portfolio for wearable electronics, sensors and personal healthcare and fitness solutions. In 2011, he was appointed to the newly created role of Senior Director of Global Sales and Marketing for the advanced research and development labs of NXP. In this role, he led an effort focused on customer collaborative innovation that contributed to the accelerated introduction of differentiated technologies.
Mr. Bruno has also led several global and regional sales organizations for Philips Semiconductors, contributing more than $250M in annual revenue, and he served as the Senior Director of Americas Marketing, where he delivered consistent market share gains through improved marketing efficiency and customer relationship nurturing. Mr. Bruno holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Jerilin Kenney is the VP/GM of Life Sciences and Healthcare where she leads the business and commercial strategies in developing, launching, and selling high performance refrigeration products based on Phononic’s proprietary SilverCore refrigeration systems.
Most recently, Jerilin served as Industry Director of Biotechnology Sales for ThermoFisher Scientific in which she led strategic commercial engagements with major biotechnology and pharmaceutical firms. Prior to joining ThermoFisher Scientific, Jerilin was the Director of Commercial Services for Doe & Ingalls, in Durham, NC. In these roles, Jerilin was actively involved in helping biopharmaceutical and vaccine producers meet cGMP compliance for incoming raw materials that were used in manufacturing processes. In this capacity, she developed an understanding and practical application of 21 CFR Parts 210 & 211.
Jerilin earned a BS in Biochemistry and a BA in Chemistry from North Carolina State University and recently completed an MBA at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She lives in Raleigh with her husband, Matt.
Mike Demasi is VP/GM Consumer Products where he leads the company’s sales and partnering efforts introducing disruptive solid state cooling and heating residential and consumer solutions. Mr. Demasi has more than 17 years of consumer experience, including leadership positions at two global consumer products companies.
Mr. Demasi joined Phononic after spending three years at Whirlpool Corporation as the General Manager of the Consumer Products Group, where he was responsible for managing the product development, branding, operations and selling of the fast-moving, highly profitable consumables business. During his time at Whirlpool, he was instrumental in leading his team to launch an award-winning innovation that went from concept to retailer shelves in fewer than 12 months. Prior to that, Mr. Demasi spent 14 years at Stanley Black & Decker in multiple commercial-facing roles that included sales and marketing management positions with key retailers like Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, and many other channels of distribution.
Mr. Demasi earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration degree with a focus on International Business from Loyola University.
